The Hart House Orchestra is now accepting submissions for the 2010-2011 Concerto Competition. The winner of the competition will perform with the HHO in either the HHO’s Fall Concert in 2010 (November 18 or 25). The winner of the competition must be available for a dress rehearsal before the concert and be available for a minimum of four rehearsals with the orchestra between September and November 2010. Rehearsals are held Tuesday evenings at Hart House.
The competition is a two-stage process:
Stage 1: Stage 1 requires entrants to submit and audition package containing the following: A brief biography and/or resume, complete contact information (including email and/or telephone number) and a recording. Instrumentalists, please submit a high quality recording of a slow movement and a fast movement of a concerto of your choice, or a single-movement work it its entirety with orchestral or piano accompaniment. If submitting a full-length recording, the audition committee reserves the right to only listen to selections. Vocalists, please submit high quality recordings of three arias. Note that only cassette tapes and CDs will be accepted.

Please ensure computer-produced CD recordings are playable on standard CD players. An email confirmation will be sent indicating receipt of an audition entry. Candidates who wish to have their materials and recordings returned must include a self addressed and stamped envelope when submitting materials.

Deadline for Stage One: Friday March 19, 2010
Results will be announced on March 26, 2010 at www.harthouseorchestra.ca

Stage 2 Up to three candidates will be selected for the final audition, to be held on April 11, 2010 at Hart House. Finalists should be prepared to perform their chosen work in its entirety. Accompanists are required for the live audition and are not provided. Please make appropriate arrangements.

Winner will be announced on April 12 at www.harthouseorchestra.ca
