Winter Concert 11/12




The Hart House Orchestra continues our 2011/2012 season with a performance of Brahms’ Third Symphony on Thursday, February 16. Also in the programme are Nielsen’s Helios Overture, and Mozart’s Flute Concerto, featuring flautist Elisabeth Jackson, winner of the HHO Concerto Competition. Join us for an informal pre-concert performance of Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No. 3 with our music director Henry Janzen and members of the orchestra.

Fall Concert 11/12

The HHO opens its 2011/2012 season with works by two Russian masters: Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov and Dmitri Shostakovich. The HHO Fall Concert will be held at Hart House Great Hall on Thursday, November 17, at 8pm. As always, admission is free, but seats are is limited, so come early. Join us also for a pre-concert performance featuring our very own conductors, Henry Janzen and William Rowson.

The Orchestra is excited to join the Hart House Chorus to perform Mozart’s Great Mass in C Minor. The Orchestra is also pleased to present Glazunov’s Violin Concerto in A minor, Op. 82 with Arkady Yanivker (link)

The Hart House Chorus is a 55 voice choir auditioned from musically talented students, faculty, and alumni of the University of Toronto. Since its inception in 1972 as a reincarnation of the long-standing men’s Glee Club, the Chorus has maintained a reputation for the highest standard of performance locally, nationally, and abroad.
